Internet buddies

My poor computer went and died on me. The good news is i probably get a new one since it's still under the extended warranty (probably the one time i was smart to get one because the dang thing has broken more than once now). Usually extended warranties don't pay off for me. This time i think it's the hard drive or motherboard so i will probably get a brand spanking new one. Yay for me. Bad news is i'm already having withdrawls from lack of computer usage even though i only get like a half hour or hour a day. But it's only been a week and i need to wait another week or so before either getting mine back or getting the new one. It's weird but i hate not having my computer. It's sort of my window to the world and my outlet to connect with people etc. especially since becoming a mom and can't easily get out. Many of my friends are solely internet friends too and i miss those friends if i don't get to see what they are up to...and buddies blogs too. Is that weird or what or do you guys do the same thing? I have real friends too like my neighbor i walk with everyday etc but some of my best friendships are through the internet.

This is pretty cool.

A Muslim woman was named one of the top 10 college women in the country by an American mainstream magazine! She attends the prestigious Rensselaer Polytech Institute. You can read more about her profile from the links below. Mashallah what talent and what a great story. Please stop by any store and pick up a copy of the Glamour magazine, October 10th issue. Here is one article and here is another.

Wifely duties wonderful is my husband? He's been offering maid service for me but i'm too proud of my role as wife. I feel it's my duty (and i'm very proud of this) to take care of my family, house, cook, clean and have a great looking house and a great looking (and tasting) meal on the table when my husband gets home. I hardly ever cook the same thing twice and am always looking for new recipes and ways of doing things to impress my husband. I love seeing him take two helpings and really enjoy a meal and i even like the extra pounds he's gained since we got married because it means i'm taking good care of him. And trust me, he takes great care of me too. I really got lucky this way. And don't start giving me the evil eye dangit. Just say Mashallah and smile. ;-)

I do feel it's my job and i take pride in the fact that i do all these things well. Well, that was until the little one came along. I can't seem to get anything done these days. So i caved in and i will have someone come in and clean my house for a couple hours once a month, and if it works out well we will increase it to twice a month or every week. Being the perfectionist i am (and how i like everything done my way) i will probably follow them around the first time lol. Okay i won't but i will want to. It does feel good to know the house will be spotless at least once a month.

Gay parenting

This is something that has bothered me lately. Since having my baby i've run into so many male couples who have adopted babies. Month old ones, day old ones. And usually they are little girls. Now people people start flaming me as a hater, let's just say i'm not. One of my best friends is gay and i don't judge. But when it comes to little girls being sold to male gay couples for money, i get inflamed. I had to explain to my MIL what is going on because we ran into it so many times while she was here. It's crazy to me that people will sell their children in the first place and then to gay men (who can't breastfeed, etc).

It's also sad that gay men want to be parents so badly while straight single people seem to be less inclined to get married and have families. What is going on in this world?

Okay...usually i don't judge but i really don't get this. I watched MTV the other day and so many young people are just into getting it on and often with the same sex just for fun and to be cool. What is up with all this and why are family values just getting thrown to the side?

I just don't seem to have time for anything these days but changing diapers, feeding my boss (my son), and then repeating those two things again and again and again. Oh, i mustn't forget calming him down during a crying spell. I don't even know what sleep is anymore. Somehow though i have managed to read 400 pages of a 500 page book...something i wasn't able to do pre-baby. How weird is that? I guess it's all that feeding time. The world around seems to have disappeared too. Half the time i have no idea what is happening in the world outside this house. The earthquake has been very sad though. Make sure to give some charity. They are in bad need of it. Some good charities are UNICEF (, CARE (I think thier website is but not certain) and Mercy Corps. It doesn't matter how much you give, but be sure to give something. These people have nothing left. I still can't believe how many of them are still fasting for Ramadan. That is unbelievable strength in my opinion. Let's do our part to help them out.

We did my little guy's aqiqua last weekend and my God that was a scary thing to do. DH did the buzzcut and then i did the shaving with a razor and oh my God that will put your gut into a knot. I thought the hair would come off a lot easier than it did. It didn't. It took a long time, and a lot of strokes with a razor. But it's done now. He's as bald as Mr. Clean. In fact, he now looks like a cross between the chubby Michellin baby and Mr. Clean. But much much cuter. :-) Next time i think we'll just do a buzzcut and be done with it. two minutes of freedom is over. The boss is calling me. Salaam!

Being a Mom

This is by far the hardest and easiest thing i've ever done. I'm loving it!

And a little funny thing. Mom calls the other day while we were at the pediatrician and asks "So you named him what? How do you spell that?" I spell the name (a very easy Muslim name that is pretty common) for her and she doesn't quite get it. But after a pause she says "Is that one of those Afghanistan names?" LOL. I mean come on! Last time it was an Iraqi thing. For those who don't know about my mom's confusion when it comes to my religion, you can look back to posts from July 20 or August 3rd. My oh my. Today, she calls and says "so how is my grandson *****" and the way she pronounced his name almost had me on the floor laughing. I don't know how she came up with the pronunciation. It's left me confused most of the day.

Ramadan Mubarak early also! I won't be fasting this year for obvious reasons but do plan on reading much of the Qur'an and doing good deeds as well as some extra things during the holy month.
